UPDATE #7

We are about to report about the topics that are assigned to us, and these are Student Services, Research, and Community Service. We are currently finalizing our ideas and putting them together. Also, we are trying our best to make our presentation awesome and full of juice.

At the same time, we are researching for our project. We are gathering as much sources as we need and as much references we need in order to make our project, again, full of juice.

1. The vision of CCS is to become the premiere college that would provide knowledge in computer science that would be recognized globally. I guess this vision is awesome because CCS wants to go beyond borders and spread their high quality education. They want to be know globally as providers of high levels of knowledge when it comes to Computer Science.
The mission of CCS is to produce students who will, in the future, become leaders in technical domains. This mission for me is then again awesome 'cos CCS aims to nurture it's students into "gods" of computer science. In other words, masters of the course.

2. What I can say about the idea of transfering CCS to La Salle Canlubang is that for me that idea should be a myth or only a theory because I know that alot of people would start rallies in order to stop the transfering of CCS to a different place. One of the reasons why is because we students of CCS would somewhat be isolated. We don't want that.

The college of computer studies produce graduates who are not only masters of their expertise, but also very well versed in other fields of professions. I think the keyword of the mission and vision of CCS is "Adapt". Granted that the world's technology is fast updating, graduates have the capability of adapting to the advances in technology. This unique characteristic makes lasallians a quality graduate even after school years.

It's all gonna be downhill for my college plan if we get transferred to DLSU-canlubang. i might be forced to transfer universities to cut costs on transportation. it might be the case that it is for the BETTER, but i am nothing but BITTER by the idea of it. If the purpose is for research and leakages to world-known companies, it should have been just voluntary for the students to go to canlubang and improve on their know-hows and practice their knowledge in OJT's at the future techno hub there. i wish the best for De La Salle Universities goal towards a university known for their research and leakages to companies but i also hope that they consider the students welfare as well.

Update #6

We are currently trying to bring more and more information about our assigned topics for the presentation so that we would have a fruitful lecture. We are searching for videos, so that we are not limited to only the PowerPoint presentation.

Topic: Student Services, Research, and Community Service

Since we are assigned 3 topics, we want to maximize our time in order to deliver these topics in which our classmates would understand.

We are also brainstorming on what our project proposal will be. We are already starting to search for people that may help strengthen are project. As soon as we decide on what our proposal will be.

1. The College of Computer Studies vision is focusing on creating student who has lasallian values and have the skills and qualities that will help in national development and social welfare, which i think is a very good purpose for educating young minds. The College of Computer Studies Mission to develop each in every student into professionals, with qualities in leadership and skills that can make them easily adapt to our changing world. This mission is great because it actually makes every student continue learning even after they graduated because students are taught to adapt. Also, the mission suggest inspiration and motivation, this is essential for success.

2. I COMPLETELY DISAGREE to the proposal of transferring the College of Computer Studies to Lasalle Canlubang. It is not convenient. The college of computer studies is one of the assets of DLSU, they should nurture it not get rid of it. DLSU taft is much more convenient in terms o transportation and resources.  CCS Students should be exposed to what's happening in the real world and not be kept in a far place. Students should have hands on experience and at the same time, learning how to deal with the busy streets. It is MUCH MORE WISER to keep the College of Computer Studies in DLSU taft.

1. For me, the College of Computer Studies' Vision is really precise, because it talks about what the College would want to be in the near future and what they would want to contribute, globally. And for me, it's just not having a clear picture of what would happen in the future that makes their Vision good, it's also the College's ability to succeed in it. On the other hand, I could say that the College of Computer Studies' Mission is also good because it clearly provides an overview of the goal and purpose of the College, like training the students to adapt to the fast changing technologies and environments.

2. For me, the idea of transferring the Science and Technology Campus from Manila to Canlubang is not good at all. Since ONE of the many reasons why most of the students chose to pursue their studies in this campus is because of its location and the ease of transportation.

Update #5

Last Friday (October 22, 2010) we attended an IS Seminar which was conducted by groups of students from Catch 2T11 and 2T12. Over-all, the seminar was really helpful for us especially for creating/conducting our proposals in the near future. We have also learned a lot of tips from them, like tips on how to be more productive as a group and how to properly divide the tasks to each member of the group.

Besides the IS Seminar that we have attended, we are also on the process of researching and making our group report.
